PYRAMID TWEET

On the 30th of November 2014, I tweeted my excitement about the promising new horror film, The Pyramid. I wrote, “I may compose a review.” I said “may” as I would prefer not to make promises I can’t keep. At that point when Nick Simon, one of the two writers, of The Pyramid movie, favourited my tweet. I hurriedly booked my seat for the launch event of the film on the fifth of December.

THE REVIEW

The Pyramid horror film begins with the finding of an unheard-of and interesting three-sided pyramid buried underneath the desert in Cairo, Egypt. In the midst of the distress happening in the towns outside the desert, an archaeologist group headed by Holden and his daughter Nora were excessively assimilated in revealing the historical backdrop of the existences of the puzzle, then take a second to contemplate their safety. A documentary style of shooting, the director, Grégory Levasseur has support in his pursue for authenticity, which did kind of bring the film closer to the 2014 horror film, As Above, So Below. The similarity between these movies does not end in their documentary-style approach; they have an almost comparable plot and the ‘not all that good acting yet extraordinary for a horror film’ is the same. On the off chance that you have the delight of viewing the ‘Evil Dead Remake: 2013’, then you will comprehend the kind of acting I am discussing. Furthermore yes, you can bet I composed a review for this film (Evil Dead), being a horror film fan!

It’s was slow moving and non-action for the initial 15 minutes (not certain to what extent, I was caught up with speculation on the off chance that I ought to toss my popcorn at the couple making noise in a seat above me, Mariah Carey’s heartbreaker style). Good news for those couples; the Egyptian workers on the sites made all of us in the cinema shout with excitement as they found a mystery entrance into the pyramid, in a form of a thin cave. So, it goes that the irritating couples were quiet throughout the rest of the film and my popcorn kept serving its intended purpose. An unforeseen mysterious blast from within the cave hit the workers who were a foot away from it and ended up killing one of them. This was the beginning of the horrors that were about to come.

In the wake of the wide scale savagery between the military and the protesters in Egypt, the US government requested the archaeologists and their film team to relinquish their research and leave Egypt promptly. Like most horror movies, evil always has its methods for strengthening the cravenness of wanting to know the reason for the existences of the unknown. Thus, as fate needed, the archaeologist group ends up lost in the catacombs of this newfound pyramid. Also, not before long they finally understood that there were strange creatures lurking around in the pyramid, and they were their PREY!

With an astutely-picked horror soundtrack, the film got creepier and creepier. In spite of the fact that there were some old Egyptians scripted on the walls and tombs, the pyramid was not at all like The Mummy movie (1999). I won’t go into comparing both movies, as I think that is the primary twist in this movie, which surprised me. “OMG!!!” one of the cinema group of onlookers shouted when the first casualty happened in the pyramid. It was a petrifying “blast” as the heavy slab tumbled from the roof and landed on one of the actors. This was the minute I began connecting with the actors and envisioned what it would be like if I was lost and stuck in a hunted catacombs. I felt their apprehensions, their torments and uneasiness, yet at the same time I didn’t feel any remorse at their stupidity of disregarding a cautioning indication of not to open the passage to the most haunted part of the pyramid. There were a few funny moments among the characters, such as when Holden advised Fitzie to be the first in the line and head them into the newfound door. Fitzie feared for his life. However, there was a joke about him turning into the next ‘guinea pig’ for the unknown supernatural they were going to encounter. This passageway prompted additionally frights for the group. A sand room, an ancient blood-thirsty cat, a flesh-consuming virus and the quick-breathing quandary that left the remaining survivors trying to discover a way out makes this film an adorable horror film to watch in this mad rush Xmas season.
